Hobo signs were a secret, often chalk-or-charcoal, communication system developed by itinerant workers and travelers in the late 19th/early 20th century to mark routes, identify safe houses, warn of danger, or find food. These symbols were typically drawn on fences, mailboxes, or trees to guide, protect, and inform fellow travelers on the road.

About the Tee:
Volunteer Knit Apparel, Inc. was established in September 1986 as a contract knitting operation. In 1989, the company expanded to its present location and became a vertical mill operation. Knitting, bleaching, cutting, sewing, packaging, and shipping of basic knitwear is done at our location in New Tazewell, TN. A dye operation is performed in Knoxville, TN.
